Auld Reekie Heritage Painting Decorating Reconstruction Decorative Finishes

Auld Reekie Painting & Decorating

Featured above: Progressive painting and decorating work applied to the ceiling, cornices and walls above the picture rails of the dining room. The work included the delicate repaint and gilding (application of gold leaf) work to the decorative air vents.

Cracks, holes and indentations in the ceiling and cornices were filled and rubbed down to a smooth finish prior to repainting the ceiling and cornices using the original paint system and colour scheme. We also filled hair-line cracks in the walls above the picture rail, and touched them up using paint tinted to the original colour of the walls in order to blend them in. Photos below reveal evidence of the water damage (left photo) and sealer coats of paint that were applied to the surfaces prior to the painting and decorating reconstruction work.

Gary Lancaster hand painted the original decoration and design to the cornices and mouldings to match the original in colour, texture and design. The artistic centrepiece was also reconstructed to match the original in colour, texture and design.

The works were performed to comply with the Australian Industry Standards. We ensured the work areas were kept clean at all times, performing a final clean on completion of works, and removing all rubbish created by the works from the site.
